Forest Bluff Training Group
Training with your dog is a fantastic way for us to not only teach our dogs how to make better choices and learn new behaviors, but to also build upon their quality of life. Our trainer Ian uses Fear Free and science-based training to modify behavior, provide mental stimulation and build your dogs confidence. This training methodology works to strengthen you and your dog's relationship as well as decrease unwanted behaviors. Ian will evaluate your dogs current knowledge while working within your goals to help tailor training toward your individual dog.
Training services
Day Training
Wednesday - Full day 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Thursday- Full day 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Friday - Puppy Manners half day 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Day training focuses on general obedience that allows you to drop your dog off in the morning and pick him or her up in the afternoon. Day training is best for dogs that are social and need to work on general obedience as well as learning how to appropriately communicate with other dogs. In day training we teach your dog new behaviors and show you how to practice them at home.
Private Lessons (available upon request)
(Wednesday and Thursday's after 12:45 p.m., Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
These lessons can encompass the same behaviors that are learned in day training, such as general obedience, but are personalized and tailored to your goals. These can be in-home or in our facility. Private training is better suited for dogs that have specific behavioral concerns such as leash reactivity or certain types of anxiety.
Puppy Preschool (Saturday's 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.)
This off-leash play group is designed for puppies (6 months and younger) to develop proper socialization skills and get exposure to other dogs at a crucial age.
AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) (available upon request)
The American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen test is a 10 part exam that evaluates your dogs skills in a simulated environment. Passing the exam can have many benefits such as the following:
- Increased access to restricted areas that typically do not allow dogs.
- Your dog has demonstrated proficiency in several scenarios such as vet exams, ability to follow instructions around distractions, and handling.
- Potential discounts for renters or home owners insurance.

"We had a wonderful experience with Forest Bluff Training Group and we would highly recommend there trainer, Ian. He has an uncanny knowledge of how a dog thinks and learns which was incredibly impressive. We signed up for a 5 week package of private lessons at our home to primarily help us with fine tuning heeling with our 10 month old English Cream Golden. After the five weeks was over, we realized we not only experienced succsess with heeling but we also learned so much more as Ian helped with tips in other areas of training. Ian simplifies instruction with a common sense approach. He's patient, understanding and demonstrates the steps of accomplishing set goals in a clear fashion. His follow up with emails gave us all the support we needed. We look forward to more fine tuning in the future."
